Trevor Deary
Percussion
Trevor is currently on the Percussion Staff at Vandegrift High School in Austin, Texas. His duties include coordinating the Front Ensemble in the marching band, teaching private lessons, and helping coach concert percussion ensembles at Vandegrift High School and Four Points Middle School. During his time on staff the marching band won the Texas 6A State Championship in 2022 and 2023, and won the 2023 BOA San Antonio Super Regional Competition.
Trevor earned a Masters degree in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas (2019-2021) where he studied with Mark Ford, Christopher Deane, and Paul Rennick. While attending UNT he performed with the Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Gamelan ensemble, and the Brazilian Ensemble. During his graduate studies, he had the opportunity to perform with the UNT Percussion Ensemble at the TMEA Convention in 2020. Trevor received his Bachelor's degree in Music Education at Texas Christian University (2015-2019) and performed with the TCU Percussion Orchestra, Steel Band, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, and the Marching Band. While at TCU, he had the privilege of performing in a showcase concert with the TCU Percussion Orchestra at PASIC in 2015.
Outside of his collegiate studies, Trevor has also been very involved in the marching arts as a performer and an educator. He played Xylophone for the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2017, and Xylophone for the Santa Clara Vanguard in 2018 & 2019. During his time at Santa Clara Vanguard he received a DCI Championship and two Fred Sanford Awards for Best Percussion. Trevor has also served on the percussion staff of the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, and the Vanguard Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps. While on staff with the Vanguard Cadets, they won the 2022 DCI Open Class Championship and the award for Best Percussion. He is currently on the Front Ensemble Staff of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps.
Trevor’s professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi. He currently resides in Cedar Park, Texas and is proudly endorsed by Innovative Percussion Inc.
